Explanation |
Domain Extension:
As we have already seen that a Domain Name has two parts, name and extension.
While user can choose any name for their domain, they can choose the extensions
from the pre-defined combination. Every domain name ends in a top-level domain (TLD) name.
Top level domain (TLD) can be categorized as generic top level domains (gTLD) and
country code top level domains (ccTLD).

Domain names may be registered
in .com, .net, and .org without restriction.
ccTLD:
TLDs with two letters (such as .in, .de, and .jp) have been
established for over 240 countries and external territories and are
referred to as "country-code" TLDs or "ccTLDs".
